Melbourne Pubs & Bars

Melbourne is a cosmopolitan city dotted with venues to escape from the hurly burley and enjoy a meal and a couple of drinks with friends or just to while away a few hours chatting, listening to music or just relaxing.

You can't go far in Melbourne without passing a bar or pub. Some are world renowed and are easy to find others are hidden away in quite lane ways or perched on top of building with views of the city and skyline.

We have selected Seven Rooftop Bars, one for each day of the week, that gives a flavour of the extensive variety of what is available.

Monday: Cabinet Bar & Balcony (CBD) : Monday's are no longer to be grizzled about thanks to Cabinet's Flatbread special; enjoy a rustic pizza for just $10 (a saving of $8 each) from 12-3pm weekdays. Observe Swanston Street's skirmish from a safe and relaxing distance.

Tuesday: Campari House (CBD) : On borrowed time? Campari's $18 Espresso Lunch will have you back at your desk before the boss even notices you had gone. Served from 12-3pm and each meal includes a house beverage.

Wednesday: Loop Roof (CBD) : This rooftop bar is a spectacular find. A flavourful Express Lunch Menu is inclusive of a wine or beer for $20 (served 12-4pm). All other plans and meetings can wait as you enjoy breathtaking views.

Thursday: Captain Baxter (St Kilda) : $12 Cocktail Hour (4-6pm) together with sun kissed skin and salt spray reminds you of your last magical holiday abroad. Just meters from the beach, gaze over the water and lose yourself in resort-style decadence.

Friday: The Deck @ Waterside Hotel (CBD) : The weekend is here! Start early with $20 carafes of wine (served all day from noon). DJs fill the air with tunes from 9pm to late, and a retractable roof means not even possible rain will dampen your evening.

Saturday: Young & Jackson Hotel (CBD) : Melbourne's oldest continuously running pub is three levels of fun, with the cherry on top being the city's first Cider Bar. Cool off with a Cider Sorbet served in a cup or waffle cone, or warm up with mulled Cider (which tastes like a delicious hot apple pie).

Sunday: Copperhead Road @ Elgin Inn Hotel (Hawthorn) : Hawthorn's only cocktail bar will meet your every need. Cosy corners, long bench seating, shade and sun - this brand new rooftop venue pours $15 jugs of Bulmers Cider each Sunday as live acoustic tunes are played from 3-7pm.
