The Golden Mile
Trail explores Melbourne's heritage precincts and city streets,
arcades and laneways. About 4 kilometres, it features some of Australia's
most important buildings from the National Estate, Heritage Victoria
and National Trust registers and usually takes about two and a half
to three and a half hours to complete. A map of the route may be found here.
You can guide yourself by following the "golden" tokens embedded into the footpath. The route takes you the length of Collins Street with sideway diversions into the main arcades, some of Bourke Street, Spring Street, Lonsdale & Exhibition Streets, eventually ending up at the Exhibition Buildings.
