places in the older inner-suburban areas. Some of the most popular
locations frequented by local and visiting gay people include:

Acland Street, St Kilda
Chapel Street, South Yarra
Brunswick Street, Fitzroy
Other popular locations are Toorak Road in South Yarra, Fitzroy
Street in St Kilda, the bar scene in Flinders Lane, Smith Street
in Collingwood and areas of Northcote and Clifton Hill.
Each year a the Midsumma Gay and Lesbian Festival is held in January
and February. It features art events, a street parade and a ball.
